The Nordic countries have agreed to enhance cooperation between them in the field of protection and increase solidarity with the Baltic states, considering Russia as "the greatest challenge to European security"
Defence Ministers of the Nordic countries have agreed to conduct joint military exercises between them after the deterioration of relations with Russia, reports Anadolu Agency (AA).

According to a joint statement, the Nordic countries will also exchange information about their airspace. According to the joint statement also said that countries will conduct joint operations military training.

Defense ministers of Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Finland, have confirmed in a joint statement that their countries should be prepared for unexpected situations that may arise in the future. Ministers in a statement published in the Norwegian daily "Aftenposten" have claimed that Russia has shown that it is willing to use military force to achieve its political goals, also violated international law.

"There is growing military intelligence activity in the Baltic and in our countries. Russian servicemen are challenging us along our borders, and there were several violations of the border in the Baltic countries, "they added.

The statement comes after the deterioration of relations between Russia and Europe after the crisis in Ukraine and after the annexation of Crimea. Finland and Sweden are not member countries of NATO, but they have increased their cooperation with the Alliance in response to what they see as "Russian aggression".

Sweden has accused Russia in October last year for a submarine in Swedish territorial waters. Sweden and Denmark also have summoned the ambassadors of Russia in their countries in December, after a Russian military plane was about to colliding with a Swedish civilian aircraft.

Russia was accused of violating Finnish airspace three times in a week in late August 2014 and twice in May of the same year.
