Access to Twitter and YouTube is blocked in Turkey today after a court on the basis of individual complaints, said according to a source close to the telecom industry of Turkey, reports Reuters.
Turkey temporarily blocked the social network Twitter and greater service in the world to YouTube video on the eve of local elections in March 2014 after the distribution of audio recordings that supposedly indicate corruption in the inner circle of the then Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan, who now is president of the country.

This decision caused a furore in the Turkish public opinion and drew sharp criticism internationally. Turkish telecom regulator did not comment on the decision and there was no statement on its website.

Blocking these large web pages comes less than a week after an Istanbul prosecutor died when security forces stormed the office where members of a left-wing group had taken him hostage.

Several Turkish newspapers said that the blockade came after pictures prosecutor was being held by the attackers had circulated on social networks while police siege was still ongoing.
